Growers News:

Safe & Sound Soap Co.
I’m so excited to be introducing two new products this week!!
First of all I have created a cleaning spray! It’s all natural, and made with non toxic ingredients like Organic Sugar Cane Alcohol. This specific type of alcohol does not have a scent, so it kills 99% of germs and bacteria but won’t leave the space you clean smelling like alcohol. I added diluted castile soap and Lemon and Eucalyptus oils for an extra cleaning power boost. It leaves your surfaces sparkling clean and germ free without any residue being left behind, plus it will make the room smell amazing! I love using it in my bathroom on the counters as well as to wipe down the toilet area.

My other new items are my Non-toxic Scented Whipped Sugar scrubs! I have three amazing scents available, Sea Salt + Sand, Cashmere Date, and Beach Babe! These scents are made using high quality, non toxic fragrance oils that are vegan, and formulated for sensitive skin. They are also phthalate and paraben free, mutagen and carcinogen free, and cruelty free. Now you can enjoy amazing scented body products in your shower routine, without worrying about what’s in those fragrances!

Calico Farms: We have several new items this week -

First up, is Ben’s buttered pecans. This one’s just as they sound, melted grass-fed butter mixed with pecan halves, tossed with some pink Himalayan sea salt and oven roasted to perfection. Sold in 10-oz resealable bags, like all of our other nuts. I’ll update with an image this week.

Secondly, we have 2 new scone flavors: strawberry & blueberry vanilla bean. Both sold in 3-packs and lightly iced to perfection.

Finally, if you’re a tea lover like me, if you haven’t tried our organic Summer Fruits tea, you’re missing out. I absolutely love it iced on these hot summer days. It’s got freeze dried strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, lemongrass, hibiscus & chamomile, so it’s bursting with light & refreshing flavors to quench your thirst. I sample it at our in-person market , where it’s been selling SO well. Be sure to grab one of our tea steepers too, if you don’t have something similar, to let this tea ( and all teas, honestly) open up fully and get more bang for your buck. It’s dishwasher safe, too.

Arrington Bread Co is back, and super excited to bring fresh sourdough boules to the community
We make traditional sourdough, using quality ingredients and our 88-year-old starter that we named Josh Doughban (because we raise him uuuuuuup!). Here are flavors you can look forward to:

The Wednesday Market:  Happy Father's Day from The Wednesday Market! Ordering is Open.

Good afternoon, and Happy Father’s Day weekend from The Wednesday Market.

The Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 2 and 4 p.m. Wednesday. Check the website for this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

Summer is my favorite season for lots of reasons, not the least of which is that it is tomato season! Who can resist a tomato sandwich on white bread with just the right amount of mayo? Then there is the classic BLT: toasted bread, bacon, lettuce and tomato. It’s the perfect lunch for hot weather. My favorite preparation of fresh tomatoes is caprese salad. This dish consists of sliced tomatoes layered with slices of fresh mozzarella cheese and finely chopped bits of fresh basil. Everything is sprinkled lightly with sea salt and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. So simple, yet so delicious!

Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,
Beverly

P.S. If you have questions about your order, please contact Nelda. She is available by text, email, or phone call.

CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

Martin's Farmstand:  U-pick Saturday June 15 starting 7 am

We are opening the strawberry patches for u-pick tommorow morning (Saturday June 15, 2024 starting at 7 am. I am just returning from scouting the berry patches. We are nearing peak season. There are a lot of berries to pick in the morning- enough that we should not sell out quickly however that just depends how many people come….
I am also seeing a large amount of almost ripe berries. Next week will be a big week for strawberries.
For the best eating experiance I strongly urge you all to only pick berries that are fully ripe and bright red. If they are still orange colered or have green tip leave them for the next picking. Fully ripe strawberries are much better tasting.
The new patches (planted in 2023)of strawberries are doing very well. The older patch (planted in 2022) looks terrible however there are berries in there that need love. Starting tommorow that block will be open for half gleaning status. This patch is located out past sign post three at the end of the center driveway and south of our house. The berries in that patch are small.

Hours for u-pick are Monday starting at 5 PM; Wednesday, starting 2 PM (no morning picking on Monday’s and Wednesdays); Saturday, starting 7 AM. This repeats through out the whole season. The patch closes when the berries are all picked or at 8 pm on Monday and 6 PM on Wednesday and Saturday.
When you arrive you do not need to stop at the stand to weigh your containers if you know the empty weight already. Also you do not need to stop if you are picking into standard Quart containers.
You have the option of bringing your own containers or buying empties from us. Quart boxes 25 cents each. If you are buying empty containers from us please pay when you get them rather than after you are done picking to minimize confusion as to what is going on.
NO DOGS in the field or stand areas. We will be using the same random picking pattern that we did last year. This means that you may start anyplace you wish in the patches that are open as long as you are not cutting in front of someone. It is mandatory that when you are picking that all the ripe berries are picked as you move No roaming or grazing type picking. A section of row must either be picked or not picked when you leave. We will be scouting the patch and keep suggesting where you will find good picking.
Pricing u-pick: $5 per Quart if less than 8 quarts and $3.40 per quart if more than 8 quarts; $27.20 for an 8 quart tray. All containers are expected to well filled but not heaped. We will adjust prices up or down as needed for over or under-filled containers. By the pound price is $2.30/# (limited to bigger containers or larger amounts). If you pay by credit card there is a 3% surcharge added to the above prices and you will need to use the inside checkout station rather than outside express options. Daniel
